600 Sales and a Shop in Luxembourg

It's been a whirlwind of a month so far! I was lucky enough to hit 600 sales recently (on September 6). And I just got back from shipping my biggest order ever: a wholesale order from a gorgeous shop in Luxembourg! It really is a beautiful shop -- have a look at Chez Lucy! And if you're vacationing in the heart of glamorous Europe, stop by Lucy's shop and say hi. Chez Lucy, 23 rue de Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Alzette.

Mad for Plaid

I created an Etsy treasury yesterday that was full of plaid, and I called it "I'm a Lumberjack and I'm OK" after the Monty Python song -- not that unusual as I'm a treasury fiend constantly in search of inspiration. Then something bizarre happened: The treasury got 700 views in one afternoon and evening. 700 views! I felt like Vicki Diane, with her Artists Exposed treasuries that get thousands of views. No treasury of mine has ever received that many views -- even when I've been lucky enough to have one make the Etsy front page! So now I'm trying to figure out exactly why it happened so I can repeat it! Was it that people love plaid as much as I do? Are we all having '90s flashbacks? Is everyone channeling the spirit of Alexander McQueen? Or was there something about the timing of this particular treasury that gave it momentum? Why did this one do so well when I've made so many others that I've liked better? Oh well. Here it is, above and here, along with the stats to the right because I have to see them to believe them. Enjoy!

A Beautiful Day

Jan and I got married on May 1, with 20 friends to help us celebrate! Jan's dad performed the ceremony in our living room, and I cried while Jan said his vows and bawled while I said mine. The flowers from local Hoover-Fischer Florist were fantastic, exactly what I'd wanted: a bridal bouquet made of nothing but plump pink peonies; bunches of hot pink, orange and yellow Gerber daisies and tulips in pitchers around the house. The cake from local Woodmoor Pastry Shop was the most delicious dessert anyone could ask for (the top layer was almond and the bottom layer was chocolate, with white buttercream icing all over). I can't wait to get the pictures!

500 Sales and Wedding Ring Drama

I passed 500 sales a couple of weeks ago -- I've been meaning to write about it but it's been a little nutty around here with wedding prep going on. As Kateri from UrbanLegend and LeavesOfGlass pointed out, the 100th sale is the most exciting. But 500 was a big thrill, too!

In wedding news, my ring still isn't ready. Please keep your fingers crossed for me that it's ready in time!

Getting Hitched

Jan asked me to marry him during snowmageddon earlier this month! I love him so much and I'm so happy that I think my unusual level of cheerfulness is probably annoying everyone. :D We looked and looked for a ring, and I couldn't figure out exactly what it was that I was looking for. Then Jan found the ring you see here, and I thought it was PERFECT. It's gold with pink sapphires and diamonds. I am in love with this ring! Maybe I can marry Jan and the ring.

Gorgeous Maria!

One of my customers sent me some pictures from her wedding, which looks like the most fun wedding EVER. When Maria told me she planned to wear my Ripest Berries Bracelet (made with luscious vintage moonglow beads) to her wedding in Mexico, I knew it was going to be the kind of wedding everyone wants to go to -- a great time for the couple but also for the guests! Her pictures are amazing, courtesy of Glen Stubbe Photography.

Congratulations to Maria and Jimmy!

Rediscovering Big, Honkin' Lucite

It's been a while since I posted -- the holiday season was busy, and work has been kicking my butt lately. Jewelry-wise, I'm letting myself be pulled in all directions, which is a a lot of fun but doesn't lend itself well to settling down and making jewelry! I managed to make several pieces over the past few weeks, then Jan took pictures and I posted them. One of my favorites is my Judy Jetson Bracelet, made with huge, enormous, monstrously big vintage Lucite in several shades of pink. I sneaked one Venetian glass bead in there too, along with some pink jade, cherry quartz and polymer clay. But the scene stealers for me are the orangey pink vintage Lucite discs. Enjoy!
